Emily Hart, Grandmaster of Dollmaking
Presenting: German reproduction child doll marked K*R 117n , and commonly known as Mein Liebling, originally made by the Firm of Simon and Halbig for Kämmer and Reinhardt, circa 1912.
In this case, the "n" refers to "naughty" as the eyes are side-glancing giving her a mischievous look... the original doll had "flirty eyes" that is they moved from side to side, but this reproduction doll has fixed side-glancing eyes.
No other doll like this will be made by Emily Hart (I never did own the mold)
This doll was made for my own collection and I only offer her now by necessity. Painted in 2010, this is a very fine example of this precious doll.
Poured in white porcelain and with many layers of China paint meticulously applied and firings in between each layer. The skin tone is pale with very rosy cheeks as is characteristic of the German dolls.
Extra Fine Painting
This head has an open mouth with six inset porcelain teeth and felt tongue.
The lovely brown eyes are made by "Glasaugen" of Germany very finest quality glass eyes in the traditional German style. PLEASE NOTE: she has a firing crack at the rim that does not diminish her value as it is not going to crack more.
She features a very fine extra-long human hair wig in beautiful Auburn color. (these wigs are no long available and I had a few).
She is on a 21.5 inch German composition body by Seeley’s.
This dress of pure silk Shantung with overlay of Antique Tambour lace and ribbon trims is embellished with gorgeous silk flowers. The matching bonnet is wired silk with lace and flower embellishments.
The elaborate undergarments of bloomers and full petticoat are made from fine pure cotton Batiste with very hard-to-find red French laces and white French laces were designed and made by Emily Hart.
Her socks are pure cotton, and shoes are the very finest quality Genuine Leather in the German style and made in Italy.
She stands 27.5 inches tall.
