French Bébé Reproduction porcelain doll HEAD ONLY marked 4.5 and SCH under crossed hammers in shield

This unusual doll was made by Schmitt & Fils (Schmitt & Sons), a French doll company that operated from 1863 to 1891. The quality of dolls they produced was excellent.

Poured in finest porcelain in "Lady White" with many layers of China paint applied meticulously with up to 6 firings in between.

This is one of the most unusually modeled of the French dolls she has enormous, very almond-shaped eyes, giving her a very unique look among French Bébés
