Emily Hart, Grandmaster of Dollmaking, winner of over 50 International awards, Canada's Top Trophy and many Best of show Rosettes in International Competition in 2024 Celebrating 34 years creating in porcelain.

Presenting: A “One of a kind” doll, entirely made by Emily Hart, including all porcelain parts & cloth body, completed January 2016 and stored away until now, finally offered for sale.

Here you have a rare opportunity to get one of my very finest modern dolls.

Many of you may have heard me say over the years that I have at least 200 dolls partly made all over my Studio, many carefully wrapped and stored away.

I have these good intentions to finish them, but then I start something new and drawer after drawer is filled with partly made dolls… Recently, I decided to work on some of them… Here is one result.

This doll was made from the “Marhia” mold set of head, shoulderplate, lower arms, lower legs, with cloth body, originally sculpted by the late Gwen Ross.

I made this doll in honor of Gwen, a wonderful doll sculptor and creator of amazing dolls.

Her head poured in Seeley’s “Lady White” porcelain with wonderful china painting in many layers with firings in between.

Very few modern dolls were made starting with white porcelain… it makes a difference to the depth of the painting to start with white porcelain and apply the skin color over it. In this case, the mold has intaglio eyes and I have used the very difficult to master “dimensional eye-painting technique”.

This doll has been patiently waiting for a wig, and costume for several years.

I chose a beautiful long mohair wig in pale golden blonde color for her with bangs and soft curls. I don’t usually glue on wigs as many of my customers like to change them…please let me know if you want the wig glued on.

Her body is strong 100% cotton muslin, and arms have wire armature inside so they can be slightly bent at the elbows.

Marhia holds a little porcelain bunny, also made by me, Emily Hart, in her hand.

This stunning dress and bonnet are made from a deep wine-red pure silk fabric, with an overlay of many different, very fine Vintage laces, done in a “patchwork design.

Close up photos show the textured embellishments of gimp, tiny tulle bows, and tiny ribbon flowers incorporated into the dress. The bonnet is wired and embellished with the most beautiful velvet and silk flowers.

This costume really must be seen to be appreciated… the depth of color is astounding with the lace overlay.

The undergarments are made of 100% rayon with lace and satin ribbons trims, and consist of pantalets, corset and full petticoat.

She wears hand knitted silk/rayon socks and highest quality genuine leather shoes with ribbon rosettes handmade to match her dress.

She stands 24.5 inches and 28 inches including the bonnet brim.
