Emily Hart offers her Reproduction of an Extremely Rare French Bébé Antique porcelain doll marked P 10 G This was the doll for which Pintel & Godchaux was best known, called Le Bébé Charmant, she was made from 1889 to 1899 in France The head is poured in finest white porcelain with many layers of China paint applied meticulously with up to 6 firings in between and ears pierced through the lobe as the Antique dolls were done. This is one of the hardest French dolls to paint with very long close together eyelashes. She has enormous eyes, giving her a very unique look among French Bébés Very Fine Painting done in 1999 and entered into the 2002 Porcelain Doll maker's Network Internet Competition She won a First Place Ribbon in this competition. She features the very finest hand blown solid glass Authentic Reproduction French Paperweight eyes in light brown color with fantastic threading by Hand Glass Craft of England. Earrings and matching necklace of very beautiful pale golden tone genuine freshwater pearls Fine mohair wig in rich brown color center part and soft curls The body is French style latex composition by Seeley's The costume made entirely by Emily Hart is an Authentic Reproduction of an Antique costume found on the Antique doll of this model. The pattern of the dress is very complex and time-consuming to make. The costume is made from iridescent twill-woven pure silk with pure silk satin lining in the entire dress and bonnet. Tiny piping is accenting each seam of the dress including the join between the sleeves and bodice as well as the back of the dress has a contrasting fabric double pleat inset. A separate lace frill around the upper bodice is sewn over the dress, but is separate. A pleated pure silk organza overlay creates a distinctive look to the front of the dress bodice. A front opening is closed with tiny hooks and thread loops with pearls sewn to look as if they are buttons... The dress skirt is pleated and then a separate overlay of lace is made like an overskirt to the dress. The Bonnet features a large lace frill and lace appliqué adorning the back. The bonnet and dress bear Emily's own label. Only one doll and costume has been made in this design, however, a second one may be made in future. The undergarments are fine batiste bloomers featuring tucks and French lace and a full A-line slip also with French laces. Socks are hand knitted silk/rayon and shoes are in the French style with silk ribbon rosettes and pearl centers. This doll stands 17 inches (43 cm) and 19 inches (48 cm) including the bonnet |
